The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) is the world’s leading international non-governmental organization dedicated the development and improvement of legal regimes for the protection of intellectual property (IP).

It is a politically neutral, non-profit organization, domiciled in Switzerland, which currently has over 9000 Members representing more than 100 countries.

The objective of AIPPI is to improve and promote the protection of intellectual property on both international and national bases. It pursues this objective by working for the development, expansion and improvement of international and regional treaties and agreements and national laws relating to intellectual property.

It operates by conducting studies of existing national laws and proposes measures to achieve harmonization of these laws on an international basis. Where appropriate, AIPPI intervenes with submissions before major courts and legislative bodies to advocate for strengthened IP protection. The organization also serves as a global resource for information, opinion and advice about existing and proposed IP laws.

The management of AIPPI is entrusted to a volunteer board known as the Bureau. The work of AIPPI is conducted by various committees, consisting of volunteer members from the National / Regional Groups (NRGs). The AIPPI General Secretariat based in Zurich, Switzerland, employs 11 staff members responsible for, financial and membership administration, the planning of the Annual World Congress, media, sponsorship, publications and IT.

Workload: 80 – 100%
Starting date: 1 June 2019 or upon mutual agreement
Reporting to: Reporter General, Executive Director
Cooperating with: General Secretariat Team, various AIPPI Committees, Reporter General Team, individual AIPPI members, speakers, internal and external experts, government agencies
Your tasks:
  • General administrative responsibility for supporting a number of AIPPI Committees
  • General correspondence with National / Regional Groups (NRGs)
  • Coordinating AIPPI’s representations at government agencies
  • Preparation and coordination of conference calls and meetings
  • Coordination of scientific work
  • Administrative support during Annual World Congress
  • Coordination of questionnaires
  • Monitoring budget for moderators and speakers
Your Profile:
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in executive assistance, corporate communication, office administration function or in a supporting role for a decision-making or scientific body
  • Excellent language skills in English (native or fully proficient); other language skills (German, French, Spanish, etc.) desirable
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and diplomatically in an international business/legal environment
  • Ability to work precisely and independently within tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to deal with different work styles, strong customer orientation
  • Interest in working in an international and multicultural team
  • Fully proficient with MS office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Eligible for Swiss work permit (EU/EEA, British and Swiss nationals only unless already a B or C work permit holder).
Salary: An internationally competitive salary in line with the candidate’s qualifications and experience
