Christian Vollrath

EU Commission, Member of the Legal Service (DE)


Christian Vollrath is Member of the Legal Service of the European Commission, and is active in the competition team of that service. He advises on and litigates cases from all areas of EU competition law, including cases concerning the interface between competition law and IP law. Prior to working for the Legal Service, Christian Vollrath was a civil servant in the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission, where he was involved mainly in a policy project concerning private enforcement (damages actions) for breach of EU competition law. Before joining the European Commission, Christian Vollrath worked for several years in the antitrust, competition and trade department of a major international law firm. He is a graduate of Heidelberg University (Germany), was admitted to the Cologne (Germany) bar and holds an LL.M. degree from the University of London (UK) and a MaƮtrise en Droit degree from the University of Montpellier (France).
