Stephen Rowan

EPO, EPO Vice President (DE)

 

Stephen Rowan joined the European Patent Office (EPO) as Vice-President on 1st January 2019.

 

He is responsible for the entire Patent Granting Process at the EPO and has the lead for the largest Directorate General with more than 5,000 staff. He is also Site Manager for the EPO branch in The Hague.

 

Before joining the EPO, he held a number of senior leadership roles in the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom. These included the position of Director of Registered Rights, responsible for the end to end processing of patent, trade mark and design applications and the associated tribunal functions.

 

 

He has an LLB (Hons) from the University of the West of England.
