Barbara Fiacco

Barbara Fiacco is a Partner at Foley Hoag LLP and President-Elect of the American Intellectual Property Association (AIPLA).

 

She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School..Barbara handles complex intellectual property and business disputes. Her technology-related practice focuses on the life sciences, including therapeutic proteins and antibodies, small molecule compounds, drug delivery systems, molecular diagnostics, and medical devices. She has successfully litigated patent, trade secret, and inventorship disputes for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers and research institutions.

 

Barbara currently serves as Chair of AIPLA’s Subject-Matter Eligibility Task Force and has also served as Chair of the Committee on Legislation and the Patent Law Committee. In addition, Barbara has authored amicus briefs in the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court on behalf of AIPLA, the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), and others.

 

She is recognized as a leading IP lawyer in the Best Lawyers in America, IAM Patent 1000, Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars and Top 250 Women. In 2018, Barbara was named as Boston Biotechnology Law Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers.
