Ewan Nettleton

Novartis International AG, Senior Patent Counsel in Oncology of IP (CH)


Ewan is a Senior Patent Counsel in Oncology IP at Novartis Pharma AG in Switzerland where he works on global pharmaceutical litigation co-ordination projects. This involves managing IP and related litigation in a wide range of jurisdictions. Ewan is a qualified UK solicitor (since September 2002), and has an MA in chemistry and a DPhil in protein chemistry from Balliol College, Oxford. His legal qualifications include Diplomas in Intellectual Property Law and Practice (Bristol University) and Patent Litigation in Europe (CEIPI, University of Strasbourg). He is also a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Prior to joining Novartis in September 2010, Ewan was an associate at Bristows in London specializing in IP law with an emphasis on litigation. There, Ewan gained experience of patent infringement cases in the English High Court and Patents County Court. He was also involved in advising pharmaceutical companies considering bringing new drugs to market and on defence of their IP rights for key products in multiple jurisdictions. Ewan’s experience also extends to the regulatory field, customs seizures, and medical devices.
