Peter Widmer

Mr. Peter Widmer is partner at FMP Fuhrer Marbach & Partners in Bern, Switzerland, since 1988. His practice focuses on all relevant issues of IP, including litigation in all Swiss courts, including the Swiss Supreme Court. One of the two main areas is on the protection of sings (trademarks, company names, trade- and domain names) with the full range from evaluation and clearance of new signs, to their protection and enforcement, including aspects of unfair competition, antitrust law and copyright law. The second main area is patent litigation. Further, Mr. Widmer’s practice involves all aspects of contracts, again with a clear focus on IP related matters, including licenses, coexistence and delimitation agreements, agreements regarding creation and assignment of IP rights etc. Peter Widmer is the author of several publications in IP (i.e. co-author in: Lange, International Trade Mark and Sings Protection, C.H. Beck, Munich, 2010, Part Switzerland) and contributed to a commentary on the proceedings before the Swiss Federal Patent Court. He is a teacher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property in a course for Swiss patent attorneys, is a speaker at numerous national and international symposia on IP related matters and is past Chair of the AIPPI Standing Committee “Trademarks”.
