UK: RGC Jenkins & Co announces merger with German firm, Maucher Börjes Jenkins

by Laura Wade (Maucher Jenkins – UK)

Specialist intellectual property firms, RGC Jenkins & Co in the UK and Freiburg firm, Maucher Börjes Jenkins have merged. The combined firms will now be known as Maucher Jenkins.

This merger of two successful and long established European IP firms has created one of the most innovative global IP practices.

With offices in London, Farnham, Munich, Freiburg, Basel and Beijing, Maucher Jenkins is uniquely placed to advise businesses that need both EU and UK IP rights; offering a one-stop-shop that is able to act across all major economies in Europe, without any consequences to clients, should Britain fully exit the EU in the future.

Patent Partner Hugh Dunlop commented “We are delighted to be integrating fully with our German colleagues, following a period of integration after the merger completed in autumn 2015. Many of our UK competitors are now looking into acquiring toeholds in Europe in response to the Brexit referendum.  Our firm has had an office in Munich for many years and we started our association with Maucher Börjes in 2012 as a broader strategy which is serendipitous in the light of these events.”

Trade Mark Partner, Katie Cameron added “This merger into one European firm is part of our existing evolution and growth plans, and we are also currently looking at opening additional satellite offices.  The merger with this long established and successful German firm provides a one-stop-shop for our global clients, and also means that regardless of whether Britain exits the EU fully in future, our clients will find ‘business as usual’ at Maucher Jenkins, with no concerns for our UK clients.”
