A Preview of the London Congress Programme

by Jonathan P. Osha (Reporter General)

As always, the AIPPI Congress educational programme will feature a wide variety of cutting-edge topics that will be sure to inform and educate. There will be 13 panel sessions covering topics ranging from “The Art of IP – Museums and Architecture” to “Describe Your Best Defense: Trademark Infringement or Not?” and “Patents and Artificial Intelligence: What’s Next?”. The Congress will also feature a mock trial on design infringement. The traditional “Pharma Day” will include sessions on pay for delay, patent linkage, recent developments in SPCs and patent term extensions, and antibodies and epitope/competitive claims. In addition, our “Meet the IP Offices” session will provide an opportunity to interact with representatives from multiple IP offices in an informal setting, while “Hot Topics” will cover recent developments in various fields. The three lunch sessions feature an update by USPTO director Andrei Iancu, an engaging panel on IP in fashion, and a showcase of innovation in Africa.

The meetings of the AIPPI Standing Committees have been scheduled in one-hour timeslots on the afternoon of Saturday, 13:30 to 17:30, September 14. For the specific time and room assignments, please consult the information here. The standing committee meetings are open to all members and observers. In addition, there will be a reception for standing committee members and registered observers following the committee meetings from 18:00 to 19:00 on Saturday, September 14. If you wish to register as an observer of a standing committee, please log onto the AIPPI website, go to “my dashboard”, select “manage committees” and tick the box next to the committee(s) of interest.

We look forward to seeing you in London!
