Changes to IP Fees and Trademark Protection Period in Lebanon
26 Apr 2024 | Newsletter
As of February 15, 2024, Lebanon implemented Law No. 324, adjusting the cost structure for intellectual property rights, and reducing the period of trademark protection.
Significant changes introduced by Law No. 324 include raised official fees for the application, registration, renewal, and recordal of intellectual property rights, affecting both pending and upcoming applications. Furthermore, the new Law shorted the trademark protection term from 15 to 10 years for applications filed on or after February 15, 2024.
It is worth noting that trademarks that were registered or renewed before this Law came into effect will retain the original 15-year protection period before shifting to the new 10-year term upon subsequent renewals.
