AIPPI Chinese Group Assigned Speaker to Support the 2024 ASEAN IPA Annual General Meeting & Conference

Invited by ASEAN IPA and for the purpose of supporting its 2024 Annual General Meeting & Conference, AIPPI Chinese Group assigned Mr. Chao Zhang, lawyer of NTD Law Office, as a panellist to participate in a panel discussion session of the Conference held by ASEAN IPA on 1-2 March 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Conference, attracting numerous IP experts from around 30 countries and areas, was themed “Rising to the Challenges of the Digital Era – ASEAN Perspectives”, with the goal of exploring the complex challenges, evolving trends, and significant advancements within our increasingly digital world. The speakers and participants contributed insightful observations on how both ASEAN countries and other regions can navigate the questions and opportunities presented by the Digital Era.
In his presentation on the topic of “China Perspective: IP Enforcement of AI”, Chao focused on the forefront of developments in the field of IP related to generative artificial intelligence and AIGC (AI Generated Content) in China, analyzing the latest trends from aspects such as copyrightability and ownership dispute cases, infringement scenarios and characters, and providing the readouts of the latest regulation governing AI related tech and service.
Along with other three panellists from the USPTO, and prominent law firms in Japan and Korea, Chao shared perspectives on the effects of AI on the IP landscape they engaged in in-depth discussions on fundamental issues such as ownership rights, infringement cases, licensing agreements, and the regulation of AI technologies.
Mr. Pham Nghiem Xuan Bac, President of ASEAN IPA, wrapped up the conference at the Closing. In his closing remark, Bac, on behalf of the Organizing Committee of ASEAN IPA, extended the gratitude to AIPPI and the Chinese Group for the support to this conference and wished the 2024 AIPPI World Congress in Hangzhou a great success.
