Join us for an enriching discussion on how to improve and expand accelerated examination programs for patents. Complementary policies that encourage rapid innovation of green inventions with a common goal of protecting the global society from the imminent and long-term risks of climate change will be discussed.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will also address the interconnection between public health crisis and the need for accelerated innovation to mitigate the health risks that they impose.

David Gerk
Senior Patent Attorney, Office of Policy and International Affairs at the USPTO
David Gerk is Acting Senior Patent Counsel in the Office of Policy and International Affairs (OPIA) at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) where he advises the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on domestic and international IP issues as well as on United States treaty obligations and helps to formulate U.S. domestic and international policy regarding protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Dr. Ronen Lahav is a senior patent examiner in the Israeli patent office. He received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences and Microphysics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Currently Dr. Lahav is the Head of Computer and telecommunication team. He was one of the pioneers for launching the Fast-tracking green patent project and he is in charge for Fast-tracking green patent applications approval.

Patrick Breslin, founder of Breslin Consulting, is an economist and expert in intellectual property (IP), valuation, quantifying damages in IP disputes, R&D and technology finance and development, and other areas of economic and financial analysis. He has valued transactions for over 25 years in complex regulatory, litigation, and other dispute resolution contexts, often involving multiple country jurisdictions. He has analyzed and valued a range IP types, including patents, in energy- and green tech-related contexts. Mr. Breslin was also a technology business executive and managed an R&D team and IP portfolio as CEO of Relatable™ –an R&D-focused software and AI solutions provider.
