Join the AIPPI National Group of Italy for their webinar on “The protection of cultural heritage between exclusive rights, exceptions and public domain – the rules in Italy, Germany, European Union”.

Let’s get together on 25 February 2025 (17:00 – 18:30 CET) to discuss everything cultural heritage (the webinar will be held in English)!

Cultural goods are all those works of artistic, historical, archaeological, ethno-anthropological, archival and bibliographical interest. The protection of cultural goods is not harmonized at EU level, so that in different countries, in addition to copyright protection, there may be other exclusive rights in favour of the entities that conserve the goods. Trademark and image rights may also come into consideration, depending on the case. As well as protection, exceptions and the relationship with the public domain mat vary. Recent court cases have seen opposing interpretations given by Italian and German courts, also with regard to the issue of extraterritorial application of rights.  The webinar will address:

  • Rights applicable to cultural goods at EU, German, Italian level
  • Exception and public domain issues
  • Extraterritoriality

Participation in the event is free of charge after registering, subject to availability, at www.aippi.it.

The day before the event, the relevant link for participation will be sent to registered participants.
