Speakers

David Knight

David Knight is a partner in Brown Rudnick’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, based in the London office.

His practice covers the full range of IP rights (patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, etc.) particularly where such rights are technical in character.

The main focus of his practice is patent law. He advises on and conducts both offensive and defensive litigation of IP rights, IP infringement avoidance, commercial exploitation and acquisition, and how to use IP for competitive advantage.

Often this is done on a multi-jurisdictional basis and covers a wide variety of technologies including renewable energy, aerospace, medical devices, scientific instrumentation, blockchain, printing, computer games, household products, construction, and cleantech.

David has a degree in electronic engineering and practiced as an engineer for a number of years before moving into the law and qualifying as a solicitor.

Peter Oksen

Peter Oksen, Green Technology & Research manager, WIPO GREEN. Peter has more than 30 years’ experience in socio-economic development and natural resources management and holds a PhD in International Development Studies.

He has lived in SE Asia for a decade, working as researcher, consultant, and head the Danida Environmental Support Programme in Indonesia. Before joining WIPO in 2018, he helped develop the environmental and social safeguard framework and tools for the World Food Programme in Rome.

At WIPO GREEN, Peter is responsible for the Green Technology Book, acceleration projects, research, expert guidance, and development of the database of needs and technologies. Peter is also the creator and owner of the website SustainableSuccessStories.org

Giselle Reuben

Giselle is a Partner of BLP in the San José office in Costa Rica. Her areas of expertise include Intellectual Property and Sanitary Registration of Products. She has extensive experience advising local and international organizations in all aspects and processes related to the registration, protection, and defense of intellectual property rights, coordinating these processes throughout Central America via the BLP’s regional offices.

She also represents clients in complex litigation related to trademarks, copyrights and anti-piracy. Additionally, she advises on the regulatory part related to the sanitary and phytosanitary registry of products before state authorities within their respective regional countries.

Giselle is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and has belonged to the International Trademark Association (INTA) since 2005. She heads the Judge´s Task Force of the INTA Enforcement Committee.
