Jan Jacobi

Jan Jacobi is a Dutch attorney-at-law, practising since 2013 after graduating from the University of Amsterdam. Jan is currently working at BarentsKrans in the Hague, the Netherlands, having previously worked in London and Amsterdam.

The focus of Jan’s practice is on litigation of complex, cross-border IP disputes within the area of trade mark, copyright and design law. He has been involved in several landmark cases before the European Court of Justice, but also regularly litigates before the EUIPO, the Benelux Bureau of Intellectual Property as well as the Dutch courts.

Jan publishes frequently on IP related topics. With a minor in philosophy, Jan is always looking for the deeper meaning and purpose of intellectual property. Believing that the law should be used as helpful tool rather than an obstacle, Jan is an advocate for progressive IP, willing to challenge standing principles and case-law. Above all, Jan maintains that IP law should be dynamic and in line with modern times.
