The AIPPI Essay Prize was launched this year to encourage the art of essay writing on Intellectual Property and related topics. There are two prizes for AIPPI members and a separate prize for IP students. The overall first prize is one complimentary registration for an AIPPI World Congress (to be redeemed within the next three AIPPI World Congresses starting from the next calendar year) and 2,000 Swiss Francs. Second prize is 1,000 Swiss Francs. A separate student prize of 1,000 Swiss Francs is also offered.
The subject of the 2020 AIPPI Essay Prize was COVID-19 and its impact on the world of IP. A handpicked team of six judges with a broad range of experience in IP adjudicated on the entries received. All of the essays were anonymized prior to judging to reduce any possible bias.
After several rounds of judging, the following entries were deemed to be the winners, based on a pre-arranged series of criteria. Luiz Henrique do Amaral made the official announcement at the Grand Finale of the 2020 AIPPI World Congress Online.
Our congratulations to the three winners!
The winning entries will be published on the AIPPI website in due course. Thank you to the expert judging panel, and also a heartfelt thank you to everyone who entered. Maybe next year will be your lucky year!
