Fernando Dos Santos

ARIPO, Director General (ZW)

 

Fernando is one of the most vocal IP experts in the African continent. His experience ranges from administration of IP at the government level, lecturing and research.
He was the first Director General of the Mozambican Industrial Property Office from 2004 to 2012. He is the current Director General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization – ARIPO since 2013.
He taught IP at the Eduardo Mondlane University, Polytechnic University and Technical University of Mozambique in Maputo, Mozambique. He is also tutor of the distance learning courses on IP offered by the WIPO Worldwide Academy and he is currently lecturing at the Master Degree on Intellectual Property offered by the Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe.
Fernando was voted in 2015 as one of the 50 most influential people in IP in the Managing Intellectual Property ranking.
Fernando is a Law graduate by the University of Trento, Italy; LLM by the University of London and is PhD candidate at the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Fernando speaks English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
