  • Main Task:

    To prepare, monitor and handle the question on the Agenda of the Council of Presidents Meeting in Oslo 1999.

    To follow and monitor the treatment of the issue of international exhaustion of patent rights in WTO, national legislation of WTO Members, as well as EU and WIPO, and the case law of WTO Members.

    To collect information on the treatment of the issue at stake from national groups, analyse the results and elaborate adequate solutions. Taking into account the common grounds as well as differences between patents and other IP Rights.
    * To represent AIPPI at GO Meetings in this matter.

  • Advise Bureau:

    To advise the Bureau on developments in the field rendering intervention of AIPPI desirable.

    To advise the Bureau on issues meriting further study, in particular whether in the form of a Special Committee or a Working Committee.

  • Documentation:

    To collect and provide the Bureau with:

    – all WTO, WIPO and EU documentation on the subject
    – national and further regional documentation of particular interest, including court decisions

  • Reporting:

    To provide (in addition to point “Monitoring”):
    – annually two months before each international meeting an account of activities since the last such meeting (incl. neg. Report)
    – within one month margin a report on all GO Meetings attended
    – immediately reports on matters of special interests in the field.

  • Special Instructions:

    Except as otherwise agreed all Reports, Minutes and other documentation are to be submitted to the General Secretariat.
